Paying for rentals is simple. You can pay using:
All payments are processed instantly at checkout.
To receive payouts, listers must connect a Stripe account. This can be completed in minutes within your Profile Settings. Once set up: payments are automatically processed, payouts are sent directly to your bank account, funds are typically received within 2-4 business days after a completed rental. You only need to complete this step if you are listing items.
Listers may require a security deposit for their items. Deposits are set per listing, funds may be held securely via Stripe during the rental period, deposits are released after the rental subject to the agreed terms. Any disputes relating to deposits are handled between users, with CIOS available to review where needed.
CIOS charges a small service fee on completed rentals. This covers: payment processing, platform operation and support, ongoing improvements and security. All fees are clearly displayed before checkout and visible in your payout summary. There are no upfront costs to list equipment.
CIOS does not directly process refunds. Cancellation and refund terms are set by the lister. Users are expected to resolve issues directly where possible. If needed, our team can review disputes and provide support, but we do not guarantee enforcement of outcomes.
We've chosen Stripe because it provides: bank-level encryption and PCI compliance, fast reliable payouts, global payment infrastructure trusted by millions of businesses. This allows us to focus on building the platform while payments are handled securely.
We take payment security seriously. CIOS uses: secure payment processing via Stripe, account monitoring and verification tools, platform controls to reduce fraudulent activity. Users are also encouraged to follow best practices including verifying renters and documenting item condition.
We're continuing to improve the payment experience, including: additional payment methods (e.g. digital wallets), faster payout options, enhanced fraud prevention systems.
